THESE ARE THE SONGS I SING WHEN I’M SAD by JANE MILLER

These are the Songs That I Sing When I’m Sad by Jane Miller and Brian Quirt is an intimate performance for a remarkable singer and an audience of no more than 20 gathered around a piano. It explores the tunes people turn to when they’re sad, the songs that they play to soothe their blues or lift them up out of the depths. Jane sings and tells stories about songs that play this role in her own life, and then invites the audience to share the songs that they sing (or play or listen to) when they’re sad. It’s a rare opportunity to hear a superb singer up close and personal as she delves into the link between deep emotions and the musical elements that make sad songs so addictive.VANESSA SMYTHE

IN CASE WE DISAPPEAR by VANESSA SMYTHE

What day of childhood do you wish you could live again? What would you tell your 7-year old self, if you could write and send her a letter? In this show, and in what NOW Magazine calls her “spellbinding combination of storytelling, stand-up comedy, poetry and song – all at the same time”, Vanessa Smythe takes us back to childhood in this poignant, funny, deeply personal celebration of the people we dreamed we’d be – and the memories that remind us of who we truly are. A celebration of life’s tricky disappointments – and its enduring, understated joy.
