Chok(H)er by Isabelle Ellis
A contemporary reimagining of the classic horror tale “The Green Ribbon,” originally popularized by Alvin Schwartz and rooted in earlier literature like Washington Irving’s “The Adventures of the German Student.” This modern adaptation centers on two teenage boys who inadvertently witness their neighbor in a compromising moment. Tempted by the chance to boost their social standing through digital exposure, they confront murky ethical boundaries in an age dominated by online surveillance and viral content. The play examines the complexities of teenage relationships, bodily autonomy, and sexuality, while exposing the subtle, insidious forms of violence young girls face in everyday life.
