Event Notes
Leora Berman, via her negotiated agreements and initiatives to conserve water through the International Joint Commission between Canada and the U.S.A., as COO of the charity The Land Between, works tirelessly to explain the valuable ecological function of the unique area South from Parry Sound through Georgian Bay to Lake Couchiching and East to the Ottawa Valley. Born in South Africa during the apartheid era, she became aware of the relationship of people to the land, culture, and economies and, of our responsibilities to one another. Her work reflects the growing importance of preserving the region called The Land Between as a place of regeneration for insects, wildlife and people.
