Sally Armstrong, journalist, author, editor, human rights activist and UNICEF Special Representative to Afghanistan (2002), has been called “the war correspondent for the world’s women”. She is a three-time winner of the Amnesty International Canada Media Award, holds ten honorary degrees, is a member of the Order of Canada, and the 2019 Massey Lecturer. A career highlight for Sally was covering the inside story on the dramatic Canadian-led rescue of the more than 100 White Helmets and their family members who made it out of Syria in 2018. Sally’s newest book, Power Shift: The Longest Revolution, will be released in September 2019.
